Sndvol32.exe is not normally anything to worry about. This is a normal file which is included on all windows computers. This controls the volume of your sound card. If you do not have this file then you will not be able to listen to music or sounds properly.
To open the volume manager you should open the control panel. Then select “Sound and Audio Devices”. Clicking the advanced button will cause a new popup window to appear. Click on the volume tab and then adjust the volume.
If the sndvol32.exe file is found anywhere other than the c:\windows\system32\ folder then this means that it’s likely to be a malicious computer virus. In this case it is important to remove it.
Correcting the Sndvol32.exe Application Error

As one of the biggest causes of computer problems is a computer virus you will need to scan your computer for viruses. Viruses will sometimes name themselves as sndvol32.exe so that they don’t get deleted. A virus scanner should help to detect these viruses. - Add Volume System Tray
Add the icon to the system tray of your computer and see if this resolves the problem. This is very easy to do. Open the control panel and select Sounds & Audio devices. In the volume tab you should check the box which says “place the volume icon onto the taskbar”. Once you apply the changes the volume icon should be visible by the clock. - Replace Missing Files
Another reason your computer might suffer from sndvol32.exe errors is because of missing computer files. To resolve this problem you will need to replace the missing files by copying them off your original windows installation media.To do this start by clicking Start -> run and then typing Cmd. This will open up a new command prompt window.
Now navigate to your CD ROM Drive by typing in the drive letter. This may be d: or e: although it could be anything else depending on your computer.
Type in cd i386 to open the i386 directory.
Expand and copy the files by typing expand sndvol32.ex_ c:\windows\system32\sndvol32.exe

I do have norton and do a scan every sunday, also did one the comp one today nothing found but 4 cookies,
